I take it as a privilege to take you around one of the finest schools of the Punjab. I don’t think there are many schools of this calibre and so it is one and only Public school which not only cradles the knowledge and intellect, it is truly a cradle of learning and education. It has preserved the character of education and education of character as well.
Situated on the outskirts of Faridkot (Fardkot – Zira Road) it is big, spacious, palatial and housed in an uncommon green surroundings that it has created as its own environment which encourages every child to learn and grow. The school has two more branches, one is situated at Kotkapura and second at Bargari (Bathinda)
The School is run by well organised NGO Bhai Pheru Sangat Sahib Educational Society which is more interested in the educational welfare of the people than the material gains. The society also runs the famous Dasmesh Dental College at Faridkot. The school has the lowest fee structure in the state and so far as educational standards are concerned, they are the best and without a match in the whole state. It is matchless in performance.
Here I take you around the school through these pictures, which Mr Shavinder Singh, a good friend of mine, clicked around the school and I have the privelge to use and write about it. I was on the campus way back in 2003-04.
The entrance of the school gives a serene look. So calm and hassle-free, that sometimes I wonder.. the presence of about 3500 students on the campus without any visible noise is something miraculous happening in the vicinity.

It is early morning time. We are not late, the school is about to begin, the bell has been sounded and the students are reaching the compound in perfect rows where they will organise their Morning Assembly. It will last for about 35 minutes. So let us hurry.

Here we are. The school has three sections and each section holds its own Morning Assembly but the pattern is almost the same. Here, the Morning Assembly is in progress.
After rendering in their melodious course voice the Inspirational Shabad, ‘Deh Shiva Bar Mohe ihhe…, the students will come forward Morning news, sports round up, amazing facts, thought for today and many more. Each day about 30 to 35 students, girls and boys separately participate in the Morning Assembly


Morning Assembly over, the students will head to their classes and they will be tested for their previous learning, hence the zero period has been made part of regular time table.
Let us take a round of the school and its activities. Here is a corner of well regulated compound dotted with beautiful green cover that enhances its environment. This is bound

to make a positive effect on the making of student’s minds. So they come up with activities as above.
The school is meticulously speckles clean, not for this photo shoot but it is a regular feature of the school. When I saw this, I was greatly impressed by its upkeep. (See below) The corridor leading to Class Rooms is well lit and invites everybody to pave their way to the heart and soul of the school.
The school is housed in palatial building and its infra-structure is flawless and wholly used and utilized exclusively for the cause of education. The real learning pattern in the school is the spirit and exclusive feature of the school.
When I joined the school as HOD (English Department) I was told not to give long lectures in the class. Instead, I should ask questions concerning the text and content of the lesson to the students in such a way that the students get involved in some thinking process and they engage themselves in a heated discussion. All the students are encouraged to speak as we have to put such questions across the whole class. We never explained the meaning of any difficult word, instead the students came across the real meaning of words, even the unforeseen ones, through discussions and dialogue.

The big auditorium on the first floor is spacious enough to make sitting arrangements for a large number of students for internal and board examination. It is tastefully decorated and meticulously maintained. It has all the necessary amenities within the precincts. Each student is provided single sitting arrangement. This allows independence and rules out any tendency for unfair means like cheating and copying. The place is also used for holding school programmes and house meetings.

The class rooms are equipped with space for student activities like play and other singing ones. Students don’t need to leave their classroom for this.

The library of the school is not only well equipped but also tastefully planned and it encourages the students to sit quietly and study. It provides reading space with a large number of books available for reading. Here is the computer section of the school.

The school has a botanical garden for the study of botanical plants and herbs. (below)
The reception of the school is all prepared to receive you and provide you with all the help.
The school not only provides academic learning but also has excellent arrangement for extracurricular and sports activities. The medals and trophies displayed on the shelves in the reception room speak for themselves. It gives a look of a luxury hotel but this is to encourage you to leave your child in a secure and comfortable environment.
The school charges the lowest fee in the area and gives the best education which is not available otherwise in big cities of Punjab even at the prices many times more that what prevails in Dasmesh Public School Faridkot.
Mr. Gurcharan Singh, is the guiding spirit of the school. He is not only the head of the school in the capacity of Director Principal and has been working 24 x 7 relentlessly for the school, he is heart and soul of the school. He is a visionary and envisaged to translate his dream into Dasmesh Public School Faridkot.

The school follows at his behest, the Socratic method of teaching and inductive method of learning which has produced marvelous output in the field of education as the school has carved a niche for itself. Not many schools are able to inculcate discipline and uniformity in its teaching pattern.
The school has a thoughtfully created section for the kids to suit their educational needs. They get the best treatment in a cosy and friendly environment. They love their school as it looks more a dream land than a school.
The activities infused curriculum help them learn the best things as they come.
They have been provided their own playing area, green cover, swimming pools and puddles to be used for their water sports and they experience everything at the school what is required for their learning. (See below)
